Because observation and engagement occurs only to a limited extent while in motion or only when stopped, an unstabilised multi-sensor platform is often sufficient for many applications. These platforms can be equipped with multiple sensors depending on mission requirements.
BAA II is a complex system equipped with state-of the art sensors. The connection to on-board navigation systems and the precise results provided by the sensors ensures that the target localisation and measurement data obtained by the BAA II can be directly integrated into the fire control systems of the vehicle or group of vehicles involved.
BAA II is intended for Fennek, Wiesel and Bv 206 vehicles. However, its modular design also permits integration into many other vehicles.
The performance of the sensors in BAA II is superior to those in BAA I which is already used in more than 400 Fennek vehicles. The system incorporates the latest generation of thermal imager, laser rangefinder and CCD camera.
In addition, the following functions have been implemented:
- Laser pointer/laser illuminator
- Image fusion and motion detection
- New, ergonomically designed control panel
- Aiming at n x 360° and extended elevation angle
- Possible to mount a laser designator and C-spot camera
